"You go to Thailand for sex... with prostitutes, right?", she asks in an accusing tone. (Oddly, this question is rarely heard coming from men...)

Anyway, maybe you respond with something like, "Well, yes. And no. It's a little difficult to explain, but Thai women aren't like Western women."

Don't be surprised if your answer is met with a cold stare.

I've had this conversation - it's kind of hard to avoid whenever I'm asked how "the book" is doing.

Relationships with Thai women definitely happen. The quality of these relationships range from successful all the way to soul-destroyingly disasterous.
